How to stop biting your nails advice ... it's all mental.
No one likes to or wants to admit that they are in complete control of this habit. I suppose that you may not have thought about it in that fashion. Maybe you never realized it.
Other than having caught your nail or something sharp, or jamming your finger on something and creating a tear there is no other reason to use your teeth to groom or trim your fingernails. So why do we do it?
At some point in your life you just started the habit. It could have been nerves or boredom. Maybe your best friend does it and you ended up mimicking him or her. No matter how it started the fact is that this is a very dangerous habit to have formed.
There is heath issues that follow along with the social.

First let's talk health.
If you were to look up the word Germs or SARS or influenza on Google or Yahoo you would see millions of articles. If you took the time to read or just skim some of these articles, the warnings and statements made about washing our hands are overwhelming. You may one that chews or bites your nails, and washes your hands regularly, but others may not be as religious. So close your eyes and think of the store clerk that gave you your change from your coffee or newspaper. Could they have the flu? Could they have a virus? Is it on the change you received.

Many habitual nail biters have also experienced bleeding from biting to far or ripping your cuticles. Now think of the coins or change you received. Ok I'm not trying to scare you here but there is a serious issue that needs to be looked at.

Now the social aspect.
How many of us are promoted at work or even accepted into a particular social circle due to popularity. Sadly physical appearance plays a big part in that. Getting noticed for the wrong reason could be the difference. Many of us that bite, or chew or previously done so, know this very well.
There are many more reasons to quit biting your nails. We have only discussed two, but they were big ones. Kicking the habit is achievable. Some seek help from therapy, that can be very costly and some can do it by reading articles or books. If you have read this far, you must be serious about the curing your habit, or maybe for someone else. At the end of the day, there is a way out, there is a solution. The key is to start now.
